What certificates can you get?
Category A Radiotelephone Operator Certificate – VHF radio operation.
VHF certificate expiration
Category A (VHF) Radiotelephone Operator Certificate – Holders of a Seaman’s license can take the exam to obtain this Certificate. In all other cases, the Navigator’s License is valid as a Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate, and it is not necessary to take a new renewal exam. If your navigator’s license is still valid, then the VHF certificate will also be valid.
